Our Story
From our family to yours — welcome to the Black Hills.
More than 25 years ago, LuAnn's family made the decision to retire here. It became the place that captured our hearts — and eventually, the place we call home.
Over the years, LuAnn and I returned again and again, enjoying the incredible scenery, winding mountain roads, and some of the finest motorcycle riding anywhere. Eventually, we knew the Black Hills wasn't just a place we loved to visit — it was where we wanted to call home.
A couple of years ago, we made that move.
Today, we live along beautiful Boulder Canyon between Sturgis and Deadwood, right in the heart of the Black Hills. And after decades of riding on two wheels, we've discovered that one of the greatest things about riding these roads isn't simply getting where you're going — it's everything you experience along the way.
That's where Ride the Line Motorcycle Tours was born.
Our heart
We started Ride the Line because we want to share what we've come to love about this incredible place with fellow motorcycle riders.
The Black Hills aren't just roads on a map. They're breathtaking overlooks, winding canyon roads, towering granite formations, wildlife around the next corner, historic towns, hidden gems, and those moments when you pull your bike over, take off your helmet, and simply say, "Wow."
We've spent years exploring these roads and discovering the places that make riding here so special. Our goal isn't simply to lead you from Point A to Point B — our goal is to help you experience the Black Hills. We'll take care of the route and the details so you can concentrate on what you came here to do: ride.
A family business
LuAnn and I have been married for 45 years, and somewhere along the way we've learned that the best things in life are meant to be shared.
Our family has grown to include five children and thirteen grandchildren, and family has always been at the center of our lives. We believe people matter, relationships matter, and the memories we make along the way matter.
That's the spirit we bring to Ride the Line. When you ride with us, you're not just a reservation number or another customer. You're our guest.
Our faith
Our Christian faith is an important part of who we are and why we do what we do.
We believe God has given us the opportunity to live in a place of extraordinary beauty, and we're grateful for the privilege of sharing it with others. Our faith shapes the way we conduct our business — with honesty, integrity, respect, gratitude, and a genuine desire to serve others.
